DON'T GET IT RIGHT - GET IT WRITTEN

The Lockdown Legacy is a collection of six booklets containing work presented by mental health service users. The books feature poems, essays, short stories all based around mental health and recovery and the fall out from the Lockdowns. The stories and poems all came from the Stepping Stone writing groups and the photographs were all taken by people who were out and about in the local community with camera phones and pocket cameras. The results are truly amazing and the Lockdown Legacy is now exactly what it says, a legacy.

THE STEPPING STONE SCRIBBLERS

The Stepping Stone Scribblers is the collective name of everyone who attends the writing groups be it the online groups or the face to face groups. They have their social media pages and are often in contact with each other. They discuss writing as well as their mental health too. It is creative peer to peer support at it is best, They all have one thing in common; thanks to the Lock Down Legacy, they are all published authors and have a collection of books in the local library. In fact some have gone  on to have their writings published independently and in other booklets. The members are really proud of themselves. So they should be.

"A merry band of scribblers, very ably led and encouraged by Bill and his wife Kate, meet regularly to share our thoughts, hopes, fears and ambitions, which collectively are shared but individually committed to our writings. I hasten to add that our writings are not scribbles, but well thought out short essays. It would be a cardinal error on my part if I fail to mention that laughter is not in short supply."

“All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.”

Ernest Hemingway

If you feel anxious

"It may be time to decrease your challenge or increase your practice. Is a big class too stressful? Try one-on-one coaching. A novel too much to write? You might start with an essay."
